Lawrence was called to the Bar in 2024 after completing his pupillage with Mr. Albert Luk, Mr. George Chu, Mr. Vod Chan and Dr. David Fong.
Before joining the Bar, Lawrence worked as a qualified actuary and held senior positions at leading global insurance and banking institutions. He has extensive experience in financial reporting, investment, risk management, capital management, and asset and liability management strategies, as well as experience in insurance product matters and agency compensation arrangements.
Lawrence is developing a broad practice and accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers’ work. Building on his substantial financial and insurance background, he is developing a particular specialism in regulatory and compliance matters relating to the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC). His work in this area includes advising on and preparing complaints to the SFC, preparing responses and submissions to SFC and ICAC inquiries and investigations, and conducting compliance reviews for asset management companies, private equity funds and other regulated entities.
Lawrence has experience in a wide range of civil and commercial matters, including shareholder disputes, breaches of directors’ duties, company winding-up and bankruptcy proceedings, contempt of court, personal injury claims, matrimonial disputes, water seepage and construction disputes, employment matters, defamation and other general civil claims. Lawrence also represents defendants across a broad spectrum of criminal offences.
Lawrence is available to provide both advocacy and advisory services and is experienced in conducting hearings and conferences, drafting legal documents, and advising on both contentious and non‑contentious matters.
